There is no schedule. Daikoku is a rest area, not a venue, and the "meet" is whoever drives in. But the pattern is real: Friday and Saturday fill from about 21:00 and get closed from about 20:30; Monday to Thursday is thinner and safer; Sunday morning is a different crowd in daylight; holidays overflow; rain empties it. This page is that pattern, night by night and month by month, with the pickup times operators actually use.

Nobody schedules Daikoku. It is a 24-hour expressway rest area with about 404 bays, and the meet is simply what happens when owners from the Tokyo–Yokohama region drive in on the same evening. Cars arrive, park, talk and leave; on a quiet night they come and go within minutes rather than hold anything you would call an event. Three things follow, and every honest listing in our pool says at least one of them.
Weeknights run from about 20:00 to 22:00 with a steady but noticeably smaller crowd, and the gate almost never shuts. This is the Daikoku local owners actually use: tuner cars, VIP sedans, the odd 旧車 kyūsha classic in for an hour, plus a few tour convoys. Japanese sources call weekday visits markedly quieter, with cars often dispersing within minutes; the reviews say the same in fewer words.
That is not a reason to avoid it. For a first visit, or clean photographs without a crowd in every frame, a weeknight is the safest bet on the calendar: real cars, a ride-in seat that gets its full hour on the lot, and an A-PIT Autobacs stop that the late weekend runs skip. Operators know it — weekday tours start around 18:30–19:30 (the $56 shuttle at 19:30 Mon–Thu), one ride-in adds A-PIT "on weekdays" only, another drops it on Fridays. The exceptions are the enthusiast dates under Holidays & special dates.
Friday and Saturday are when Daikoku is the place in the videos — the lot fills from about 21:00, peaks from 22:00 past midnight, and draws the full spread of Skylines, RX-7s, Supras, Silvias, VIP sedans and supercars — and they are also the nights it is most likely to be closed. Once the bays overflow or the revving starts, patrol staff and police clear the lot; the most-quoted trigger hour is around 20:30, and some content sites warn a Saturday can be shut by 19:00–20:00. One repeated line says it is "almost always" closed on weekends; that is contested and we do not repeat it as fact, but every operator behaves as if it might be true.
That is why the honest schedules look odd. The $56 shuttle picks up at 17:00 Friday and 16:00 Saturday against 19:30 on a weeknight; a premium van operator starts weekend runs at 15:30–16:00. The logic: be parked inside before the crowd, see the build-up, and be on the way to A-PIT or Tokyo Tower when the gate closes behind you. Arriving on your own at 22:00 on a Saturday is the surest way to meet a shut entrance — the Kanagawa Shimbun has already written the stranded-tourist piece.
If you want the weekend anyway, book a listing that says out loud what happens when the lot is closed. The ones below name a fallback (usually Umihotaru PA, sometimes Tatsumi); one is explicit that "on holidays and weekends Daikoku may be closed or open late". A couple charge extra for the detour.

Sunday morning, from about 06:00 to 08:30, Daikoku hosts a second, calmer meet with little to do with the night before: classic cars (旧車), pristine supercars — Ferraris, Lamborghinis — and mint JDM builds in daylight, with owners happy to talk. Japanese enthusiast blogs call it the car-show version of the lot and the best supercar window, partly because weekend nights are so closure-prone. It is easy to photograph, it is not the maximum crowd, and by mid-morning it has dispersed. The "Sunday 01:00 to dawn" some English sources mention is the tail of Saturday night, not this.
Almost no tour goes; the business is built around the Bayshore run and the Tokyo Tower photo, not a 06:00 alarm. The Sunday list is two listings: the $56 shuttle's Sunday 08:00 pickup (18:00 also offered), and the one daytime product — a $55-per-person Yokohama tour of Nissan Stadium, the NISMO showroom and the Nissan Engine Museum that ends at the lot. That one shows you Daikoku by day, not the meet; book it for the Nissan pilgrimage.

Public holidays and enthusiast dates make Daikoku busier than a Saturday, which is exactly why they get it closed early. Japanese sources single out New Year, Golden Week and Obon — Obon Saturdays are described as very congested with a real closure chance — plus any three-day weekend. The dated record agrees: closed through the morning of 3 January 2025; shut in late December 2023 with foreign visitors left outside.

Rain is the one variable that reliably empties Daikoku, and no tour refunds you for it. Owners do not bring a polished RX-7 out in the wet, so a rainy Friday can look like a dull Tuesday; the two most-reviewed ride-in listings say plainly that they do not refund if weather thins the meet, and "no cars showed up" is not a trigger for anyone. The consolation is real: a ride-in tour in the rain is still a night drive over the Rainbow Bridge and along the Bayshore Route.
Season matters less than the calendar, but two things bite. Daikoku Wharf is an exposed pier in Yokohama Bay: winter nights are windy and cold (one listing tells you to bring a jacket, and it is right even in June), summer nights hot, humid and busier. We have no site-specific temperature data; treat this as harbour-side common sense.
Nobody has month-level attendance counts, so this is the Japanese calendar laid over the closure record. Weeknights in any month are the low-risk option.

Yes if you want classics, supercars and clean builds in daylight and time to photograph them; no if you want the night-time tuner crowd. Japanese sources treat Sunday morning as the best supercar window partly because weekend nights get closed. Only one tour in our pool offers a Sunday 08:00 pickup; the daytime Nissan tour visits the lot but not the meet.
To get onto the lot before it is closed. Busy weekend nights are cleared from about 20:30, and some content sites warn of closures by 19:00–20:00, so the honest shuttles pull pickups forward to 16:00–17:00 on Fridays and Saturdays while running at 19:30 on weeknights. Arriving at 22:00 on a Saturday is the surest way to see a shut gate.
The tour runs and the lot is thin. Rain empties Daikoku, and no listing in our pool refunds you because fewer cars came; the most-reviewed listings say so in their fine print. Ride-in tours are still a night drive over the Rainbow Bridge and along the Bayshore Route, which is why non-car people rarely mind.
Too busy. New Year, Golden Week, Obon and three-day weekends overflow the bays, and overflow is what gets the entrance closed early; the lot was shut through the morning of 3 January 2025. Enthusiast dates — the 7th of the month for Supra and RX-7 owners, 8 June for AE86 owners — can crowd a weeknight too. Book a listing that names a fallback lot on those dates.
